TIME TO SPEND WELL

THE TEAM

Turning the table from ‘what work-life balance’ to questioning ‘what is work-life balance?’

Earlier this year, after multiple consultations with an internal steering group, it was time to challenge the traditional working week and trial a new idea at Contagious.

SO, HOW DOES THIS WORK?

Starting with a 9-day fortnight working model. Every other Friday is now a Yay Day — meaning do some endorphin-releasing: exhibition enlightenment, meet up with that friend you’ve been meaning to since last Christmas, be active or be inactive.

Whatever it is, it serves to elevate health and well-being, and a welcome brain reboot. It’s a mindful moment every second Friday, that’s also an extra 25 days a year not at the old desk.

On the working Friday, a structured day is split between creative catch-up meetings (a busy agency requires time to catch up with itself and its creative minds share their projects, experiences, and ideas) and dedicated personal development/training time (there never seemed an appropriate time to fit this in so allocating space regularly means it doesn’t keep getting pushed back).

OUR YAY-DAY ACTIVITIES SOMETIMES INCLUDE CLIMBING NOT ONE, BUT TWO MUNROS IN ONE DAY.

THE AIM:

  • Elevate creativity
  • Increase productivity
  • Heighten innovation
  • Improve mental health
  • Strenghten work life balance

THE RESULT:

So far, so good

Who benefits? Everyone. Including clients.

In a world of constant distractions and information bombardments, Contagious tries to create a bit of calm, focus and flow to allow people to be their best and feel their best every day of the year. Happiness is Contagious.
